Introduction

Adobe Lightroom Classic (LR) is a professional image management and editing tool within the Adobe Creative Cloud family, designed for professional photographers, photography enthusiasts, and anyone who constantly optimizes digital images. Its goal is to provide an efficient and consistent experience with rich features, helping users gather, organize, manage, edit, and share digital images.

Adobe Lightroom Classic is an intuitive and intelligent image management and editing tool that covers functions such as image editing, color adjustment, contrast adjustment, image sharpening, noise removal, and peeling. It can also perform photo stitching, add watermarks, adjust size ratios, add tags/batch processing, and more.

The Lightroom Classic database feature allows users to add user-defined extension tags for searching expressions and batch changing file names. In addition, photos can also be classified using Lightroom Classic tags for easy future management.

Lightroom Classic also has a rich expression function, which can enlarge the edited photos and original images for clear viewing of details, and can increase or decrease the proportion for more convenient viewing. It can even share the final version of the video produced on social media or simply print them for saving.

Lightroom focuses on cross platform usage, and its photos are stored in the cloud for easy sharing and use between different platforms. Therefore, Lightroom relies more on the use of the network.

Both Lightroom Classic and Lightroom are image enhancement processing software that integrates image management, color matching, and editing.

1. Image management tools

Lightroom Classic has image management function, which can import photos from local computers into software for centralized management, as well as perform metadata queries, batch processing, and more.

2. Color palette tool

The image enhancement function of Lightroom Classic provides a rich combination of color adjustment parameters, including contrast, saturation, color temperature, tone curve, clarity, graininess, exposure, highlights, shadows, and other professional color adjustment parameters, as well as practical repair and lens correction tools to enhance the light, shadow, color, and other aspects of photos.

Different parameter combinations can be stored as presets and used as "filters". Of course, Lightroom Classic already has a rich set of preset effects built-in, just hover the mouse over the preset and you can immediately preview the effects.

3. Edit images

Other image editing functions, such as cropping, can crop the image when the length width ratio is locked.

Alternatively, use repair tools, stamping tools, red eye removal tools, etc. for photo restoration.

Lightroom Classic is based on AI technology's masking function, which can automatically recognize the subject of a photo and add masking to it. The main body placed in the mask can be adjusted for individual enhancement effects, while other non masked areas are not affected.

4. Edit Watermark

The watermark editor of Lightroom Classic can quickly add watermarks to photos in bulk. The watermark for photos can be selected from png, jpg images, or text, and can be customized through methods such as opacity and displacement.

By adding watermarks, it can help photographers share their created photos while maintaining their copyright.

2、 How to color adjust Lightroom Classic

Color matching is the core function of Lightroom Classic, which covers multiple parameters such as commonly used tones, saturation, HSL, contrast, etc.

Although many mobile apps nowadays can achieve simple color matching and quickly apply different color tone parameter combinations by adding filters. But when it comes to professional level color matching, it still needs to be Lightroom Classic.

This is because Lightroom Classic can be adjusted based on native images, resulting in better results. However, mobile apps mostly adjust compressed images, and after compressing the image information, the color matching effect will be slightly worse. Below is a simple example to demonstrate the color adjustment operation of Lightroom Classic.

Firstly, as shown in the figure, select an image in the Lightroom Classic gallery and click on "Modify Photo" in the upper right corner.

Before the formal color adjustment, as shown in the figure, you can first use the built-in preset on the left side of Lightroom Classic to make a preliminary adjustment to the photo. Hover the mouse over the preset to quickly preview the effect without clicking on the application.

After simply applying the preset, use the right parameter panel for detailed color adjustments. Lightroom Classic has a wide range of color tuning parameters, including basics, tone curves, HSL, color grading, lens correction, etc., especially for professional photography, which is highly practical.

In order to better compare the effects before and after color adjustment, as shown in Figure 12, you can click the "YY" button below the view to adjust the Lightroom Classic view to the comparison view before and after modification.

Next, based on the characteristics of the photo, choose to increase the highlight value appropriately. This parameter only adjusts the brightness of the highlight area, which can avoid adjusting the dark areas as well.

In addition, lower the saturation of the image appropriately to lighten the colors in the image, highlighting the bleak feeling created by fallen leaves and dead trees.

To address the issue of excessive redness in photos, the color temperature value in the white balance can be lowered to give it a cool color tone. After lowering the color temperature, some parts of the sky will appear blue.

The above completes the simple color adjustment of the photo. After adjustment, if you are not satisfied, you can click the "Reset" button at the bottom of the parameter panel to restore the original image effect.
